About Beau Johnson
Beau Johnson is playwright and theater artist with a dedicated focus on theatre outreach and arts education. As a performer, producer, director and designer he has appeared on stages in Chicago, and NYC as well as many othern regional educational and children’s theatres. He is the author of over 13 plays which have been produced across the country the most recent of which was a finalist for the North Carolina 2010 Playwriting Fellowship. Beau is an accomplished physical comedian, performing in clown shows whenever possible, and was co-creator of Clunk Clown Theatre’s acclaimed revue “The Morons Don’t have to Laugh.” Beau also has spent the last decade helping communities and organiation start progressive Middle and High School programs. He holds a MA in Educational Theatre from New York University and is currently a PhD Candidate at the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Education. In addition to 500 Clown, Beau is a company member of Barrel of Moneys Productions and has worked with with such renowned companies as Steppenwolf Theater, The Hypocrites, Adventure Stage Chicago, The Actor’s Gymnasium, BAM, Mary-Arrchie, and the Dallas Theater Center.
